Clearwater: A Place Every Family Belongs

Clearwater is proud to take a bold step toward inclusivity, with an initiative to become one of the nation’s first Autism Certified Cities.

In partnership with the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES), Learning Independence for Tomorrow (LiFT), and Amplify Clearwater, this initiative will ensure our community is welcoming, supportive, and accessible to individuals with neurodiversity, along with their families.

Through specialized training, community partnerships, and business engagement, Clearwater is building a model city where every resident and visitor feels valued and included — while strengthening our economy, tourism, and quality of life.

Together, we’re creating a brighter, more inclusive future for all.

What Is An Autism Certified City?

The Autism Certified City (ACC) designation, awarded by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES), recognizes destinations where hotels, attractions, businesses, schools, healthcare providers, and local leaders are specially trained to create welcoming experiences for individuals with autism and other cognitive differences. With more than 20 years of expertise, IBCCES partners with communities like Clearwater to ensure inclusivity is more than a promise — it’s a practice.

For travelers, this means peace of mind knowing that restaurants, attractions, and services are prepared to meet diverse needs, making Clearwater a destination where every family can relax, connect, and truly enjoy their time together.
